This is a birthday card I made awhile back utilizing the uber-popular triple-time stamping technique. The new challenge blog over at Seize the Birthday has a linky party going on, and this seemed good timing on posting this card. We’ve had such a horrible national shock with the tragedy in Connecticut on Friday, and I’m having some sad family situations to deal with right now. Here at Christmas time, it just seems doubly hard to have such hurts. And this makes it ever-more-important to remember to “Celebrate Today” AND to SEIZE it. So I’m thankful for this opportunity to be reminded of the good things.
Brian King over at Stamp with Brian posted an excellent tutorial for triple time stamping on his blog here. I’ve seen a couple of other how-to’s elsewhere, but Brian broke it down very well and made the process super simple. Basically, you cut your paper you’ll stamp on in 3 different sizes, place them one on top of the other, and stamp away. The overlap that doesn’t stamp well is covered up by the coordinating cardstock you cut slightly larger than each stamped piece and layer together for the finished card. Easy-peasy and super impact.
The great thing about Triple-Time is that it lends itself to just about any image that looks well repeated. I chose to use the daisy and other images from the (retired) “Reason To Smile”, but I’ve seen this done with leaves, other flowers, and snowflakes. I’ll end up doing a card with all those things eventually.
Here’s the breakdown of supplies for this card (all SU products):
- Stamps: Reason to Smile, Perfectly Penned (sentiment).
- Paper: Summer Starfruit and Whisper White cardstock and a bit of Pool Party and Midnight Muse cardstock for the little popped-up flower.
- Ink: Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse, Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Pool Party, Lucky Limeade.
- Accessories/Embellishments: The Boho Blossoms Punch, a very cute Brad leftover from the 2012 SAB catalog (really going to hate it when I use them all up!), and dimensionals were used to create the popped up flower.
I’m looking forward to the challenges in 2013 with Seize the Birthday. It’s an opportunity to get all the cards I need made AND enjoy playing along in the challenges with other crafty folks.
Seize the birthday, celebrate, and thanks for visiting my Little Corner today! –Terri
