Thanks for CTS#218

CTS#218

This week’s CAS(E) this Sketch challenge has a very versatile sketch that I took some liberties with but loved that I finally really embraced some white space with my project.

CTS_218The clean-lined sketch just about begged me to use some of the Floral Phrases suite of products to complete it.  While my card somehow photographed looking black and white, it’s the fabulous Night of Navy DSP that has both a fresh and vintage vibe to it.  From the same suite, I’ve also included a portion of the lovely, intricate diecut for the horizontal piece below the sentiment, and topped it with a pop of color via some bright ribbon and a happy heart to complete.

This project had me really happily playing with paper again. I’ll still never be a “clean and simple” gal, but I think I kept with the integrity of the sketch, managed to keep it fairly CAS, and still got to use some ribbon and a LOT of layers–a good compromise!

Hello, Yellow

Helloyellow

The Paper Players’ Sketch Challenge (#341) pp341this week encouraged me to break out this lovely daisy die for the first time. It’s intended as a tag, but it’s also perfect on a card.  I also got to play with one of my favorite color combos here–navy blue, white, and a soft yellow.  I’m disappointed that absolutely nothing I tried with the photography would produce an actual navy-looking color…but this looks good as BLACK, white, and yellow, too, in the photograph, so I’ll likely play with that color combo very soon!

Here’s what I used:

  • Stamps: Jar of Love
  • Ink: Night of Navy (really!)
  • Paper: Floral Boutique DSP; Night of Navy, So Saffron, and Whisper White Cardstocks
  • Tools: Stitched Shapes Framelits; Timeless Tags Thinlits Dies
  • Embellishments: some retired So Saffron ribbon from my stash, that I ruffled randomly around the oval frame. (I pretty much can’t live without ribbon somewhere on my cards.)
