Okay, so I can’t quit playing with MDS…and I can only imagine how nuts I’ll go when I get MDS2! Meanwhile, here’s another challenge card that I’ve designed via Stampin’ Up!’s original digital designing software.
This card project is for the sketch challenge at Creating with Connie & Mary this week. I’m not entirely sure a digital card is okay, but since this IS Stampin’ Up! only product, hopefully I’ll pass muster here. (Again, I want to make a paper-and-ink version of this sketch, too, but that will have to wait til I have more time, which I’m kinda short on right now.) The sketch showcases the use of “little pieces”, which are often hard to imagine being the feature element of a design; by grouping them into threes and adding a nice border shape, they make a great focal statement. I used digital punches filled with both cardstock (Very Vanilla circles) and designer paper (scallop circles filled with a section of one of the pages of “Letters to Santa” dsp). Then I added the ornaments stamp brushes from the “Tree Trimmings” set. All of this is currently available for download from Stampin’ Up!
The Pals Paper Arts color challenge this month inspired the color choices for my card. This is such a beautiful and elegant color combination! I immediately thought of Christmas….well, actually, I immediately thought of Christmas sugar cookies wrapped in red tissue paper for some reason! But I fought the urge to go with the food connection (trying to keep my digital caloric intake at a minimum!) and went with…hmmm…well I guess I kinda went with cookie SHAPES with those scallop circles! But, in keeping with the color-combo, I DID leave off the multi-colored sprinkles and opted for a very neutral ornament stamp “topping” instead.
One of the advantages of digital design is the ability to easily change your color and paper choices…so I decided to try this layout with a less vibrant overall look, and switched my papers around with more emphasis on the Crumb Cake. The result is ever-so-much-more soft and subtle, and I think it also lent a country-elegance charm to it with this color arrangement. The elements are the same, other than the color arrangement, except I added three little Riding Hood Red brads at the top of each ornament.
So, there we have it. Two cards created with the wink of an eye…and the waving of the magic digital wand that SU provides. I sure wish it was this easy to change my Christmas decorations all through the house!

I had to look twice to identify that stamp set…but it came to me. I really like this card in both colors. I am not a whiz at MDS, so I am always intrigued by what people make with it. Thanks for playing the Create with Connie and Mary challenge this week!

Great job with this weeks Create with Connie & Mary sketch. I’m excited to see an MDS creation and oh my goodness you need to run quick and get MDS2 – it is so much better! So many fun features that make things so easy to do – like coloring your stamps with multiple colors!
